How to Build Your Packing Catalogue Without Any Extra Effort
Most people build their packing catalogue one of two ways. Some try to add everything to Your Stuff ahead of time — sitting down and cataloguing their belongings before they've even created a list. Others do it mid-packing — open Your Stuff, tap add, type the item name, pick a label, then go back to the packing list to add it. Repeat.
Both work, but there's a faster way. When you're packing for a trip, you'll inevitably add items directly to your list that aren't in your catalogue yet. A phone mount you just bought. A rain jacket you picked up last week, or anything else that hasn't made it into Your Stuff. These items start as one-offs, but most of them aren't really one-offs. You'll want them again next time.
The "promote" trick
Instead of switching over to Your Stuff and re-typing them later, promote them straight from your packing list:
- On your packing list screen, tap the More icon (three dots) in the top right corner.
- Select Add to Your Stuff.
- Pick which items you want to keep for future trips.
That's it. No retyping, no screen-switching, no "I'll do it later" that never happens.
Why this matters
The best packing catalogue is one that builds itself. Every trip you take is an opportunity to capture items you actually use — not items you think you might need someday. Promoting from a real packing list means your catalogue is grounded in experience, not guesswork.
After three or four trips, you'll have a catalogue that's genuinely yours — built from real packing decisions, refined over time, and ready to pull from in seconds.
The fastest way to build a master catalogue is to never sit down and build it. Just pack, promote, and let it grow.
