ezypack 1.8: Labels Are Now Categories and Tags
Version 1.8 is rolling out now, and it's the biggest change to how ezypack organises things since launch: Labels are now two separate tools — Categories and Tags.
Why the split
One "Labels" list was quietly doing two different jobs. "Clothes" answers what is it. "Must-pack" answers why am I bringing it.
Mixing them meant a pair of ski trousers labelled Clothes + Snow got its own "Clothes, Snow" section instead of just sitting under Clothes — so the more labels you used, the more your list fragmented. Now:
- Categories group your items into sections. One is usually enough, but you can assign more than one.
- Tags label your items — "must-pack", "carry-on", "kids". Add as many as you like and filter by them.
What's new
- Set a category and tags separately from any item, and create new ones on the spot without leaving the screen.
- The Labels tab is gone. Both lists now live in Settings → Organize, where you can rename, edit and delete them in one place.
- Changed your mind? Convert a tag into a category or a category into a tag, and keep everything already assigned to it.
- Filter by category and tag independently — narrow to a category, then match items with any or all of the tags you pick.
- Beach, Kids, Outdoor, Snow and Sport are tags now — they describe the trip, not the item. Camping and hiking kit gets a proper home in a new Gear category.
Also in 1.8
- Settings has moved to its own tab. No more hunting for the gear icon.
- Italian is here. ezypack now speaks English, Italian, Spanish, German, French and Polish.
- The usual pile of bug fixes and improvements.
Do I need to redo anything?
No. Your existing labels have been automatically migrated to the new system. Most labels were converted to Categories, while labels such as Snow, Beach, Kids, Must-pack, Outdoor and Sport are now Tags.
Manage Categories and Tags under Settings → Organise. To change a Category into a Tag, or vice versa, swipe left on it and choose Convert to... Items already assigned to it will keep that assignment.
